Steve Gatland
Leader, Major Accounts
MDR
Steve Gatland is MDR’s leader of major accounts. Steve’s team of account executives manages MDR’s largest and most sophisticated customers. During his 14 years of leadership at MDR, Steve has worked hand in hand with leading school marketers to improve sales and marketing performance.
Within MDR, Steve has spearheaded sales process improvement, training and development, and talent acquisition. Steve is a leading voice of MDR product innovation, regularly linking industry dynamics to MDR’s product development process. Prior to joining MDR, Steve held sales and marketing positions within the ed-tech and educational nonprofit segments.
Steve holds a BA in political science from Wittenberg University and has done additional coursework in social policy at the University of Stockholm, Sweden, and in education at DePaul University, Chicago. He lives in Chicago with his wife Laura and their three children.

Jim McVety
Vice President of Business Development
MarketingWorks, Inc.
As vice president, Jim is responsible for new business development, exploring new market segments and developing innovative programs for MarketingWorks to offer to its clients. In addition, Jim oversees the firm’s telesales practice, which offers inside sales services to K-12 and higher education providers. His division is responsible for a range of sales initiatives, including print-based supplementary materials, online curriculum, and special education assessment products.
Prior to joining MarketingWorks, Jim served as deputy director of programs in professional education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and held management and business development positions in a number of education firms, including his role as the lead K-12 market analyst at Eduventures, Inc. Jim is recognized as an authority on education markets and is regularly called on to comment on market trends, sales strategies, and competitive positioning tactics. Jim is a certified teacher and holds degrees in secondary education and English from Boston College.

Rich Northup
Consultant--Sales and Marketing
2RU Consulting Ltd.
Rich is a consultant and the principal of his own consulting firm, 2RU Consulting Ltd.
He has a history of achievements in all areas of marketing/communication and sales.
He has served as vice president of special projects at
Highlights for Children, which is known internationally as one of the finest publishers of materials for children. Rich has been responsible
for top-level marketing and sales consulting for divisions and companies of Highlights.
Previous to this role, Rich was vice president of marketing at Zaner-Bloser, a division of Highlights for Children and a leader in the educational publishing industry for 19 years. He was responsible for all phases of marketing, including branding, advertising, promotion, email, mail, Web site, training, market research, product research, and lead generation.
He also held numerous sales and marketing positions at McGraw-Hill during his ten-year tenure and started his career as a high school teacher in Richmond, Virginia.
He holds a BA from Georgetown University. He lives in Dublin, Ohio.

Lee Wilson
Principal
Headway Strategies
Lee Wilson is a principal at Headway Strategies, which provides services to companies serving the K-12 education market. His work focuses on strategy development, marketing execution, sales force management, and business development.
Lee has been a senior marketing and sales executive at Harcourt, Pearson, and Chancery Software. He got his start in education at Apple Computer. With experience in ed-tech and print publishing, he brings a valuable perspective to two markets that are merging.
He currently serves on the board of The Association of Educational Publishers (AEP), is a former board member and chair of the education division at The Software Information Industry Association (SIIA), and was one of the founding board members of the Schools Interoperability Framework (SIF).
Mr. Wilson holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a BA from Princeton University. He lives in Austin, Texas.
