We currently have an opening for a Database Developer in our Shelton, Connecticut office.
Responsibilities Include:
- Enterprise-level design, development and testing with Microsoft SQL, including data and dimensional modeling; logical and physical table design; complex queries, stored procedures and triggers; data transformation, aggregation and enterprise application integration; high performance; scalable based designs; data partitioning and clustering; and best practice security design.
- Consultation with business partners such as analysts, management and other developers to clarify program objectives, determine scope, identify problems and recommend solutions.
- Analysis of test runs on applications to correct or direct correction of coded program.
- Database maintenance, including enhancing and maintaining existing database systems to increase operating efficiency or adapt to newer requirements. Also includes assessing and tuning database performance and scalability.
- Compliance. Prepares documentation and manages revisions. Complies with coding policies and practices for naming conventions, terms, and symbols used to simplify interpretation of programs.
- Prepares for the Future. Designs our next-generation counts and data warehousing strategy that enables future expansion of all of our data sources.
- Unification. Works with systems architects to unify all of our data sources into a common query set enabling new product development.
Qualifications Include:
- 7+ years programming and development experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field - or equivalent experience
- Experience with Microsoft SQL 2005, analysis services, as well as Microsoft development environments and object-oriented development
- Hands on experience with SSIS and DTS as well as working knowledge of best practices in ETL
- Certification as a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Microsoft Certified Application Developer (MCAD), or Microsoft Certified Software Developer (MCSD) preferred
- Experience with data warehouse/data mart development preferred
- Experience with OLAP and multi-dimensional development preferred
- Experience with agile software development methodologies preferred
- Ability to work with complex mathematical concepts and apply them in practical situations
- Advanced Windows, C#, .Net, ASP.Net, and JavaScript skills preferred
- Excellent Design and planning skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team
